Know Which Ad, Call, and Page Produced Each Lead
DataStackLogic sets up and audits Google Tag Manager, GA4, Google Ads, Meta, call tracking, and form capture, finds where leads are being lost or mis-credited, and reports the source of every lead in plain numbers.
When Tracking Is Wrong, the Ads Optimize Toward the Wrong Thing
Ad platforms spend your budget on whatever you tell them counts as a conversion. If a tag fires twice, a form strips the click ID, a cookie expires before the lead returns, or phone calls are not tracked at all, the reports keep arriving and the numbers quietly stop meaning anything. Most owners find out when the Ads account says 40 leads and the CRM says 15. The fix is not another dashboard — it is a tested, documented setup that saves the source with every lead.
How the Audit Works
Count What Is Really There
We pull 90 days of leads from every place one can land — CRM, website, ad platforms, call log, Google listing — as totals, not personal details. Read-only.
Test the Tags on the Live Site
Using Tag Manager's preview mode and GA4 DebugView, we watch what fires on each key page and form, and where it does not.
Trace a Test Lead End to End
A recognizable test submission is followed from the click to the ad platform, the analytics property, and the CRM, to see exactly where the source is lost.
Reconcile the Platforms
Google Ads, GA4, Meta, and your CRM each count differently. We reconcile them to one definition of a lead and explain every gap.
Findings in Plain English
What is broken, what it costs, what to fix first, and what each fix does. Nothing changes until you approve it.
What We Set Up and Check
Seven pieces, each tested end to end. We confirm what each of your systems allows before we promise an integration.
Tag Management
One Google Tag Manager container with a named owner, a clean structure, no duplicate or orphaned tags, and a tested preview. Change history so you know who touched what.
GA4 Key Events
The actions that matter — form submit, call click, booking — are marked as key events, and Google Ads conversions can be created from them so reporting and bidding use the same definition.
Google Ads Conversions
Conversion actions tied to real outcomes, enhanced conversions where they apply, and the click ID (gclid) saved with each lead so offline outcomes can be imported later. We make sure the same lead is not primary in two places.
Meta Pixel and Conversions API
The same events sent from the browser and the server with a shared event ID so each lead counts once, and event match quality reviewed in Events Manager.
Call Tracking
Forwarding numbers or call assets that show which ad, keyword, or listing produced each call, with calls over a set length counted as conversions, tested against your listing.
First-Touch Source on Every Form
Landing page, referrer, UTMs, and click IDs from the first page of the visit are saved with the lead — including forms embedded from other domains that otherwise lose the source.
Weekly Source Report
A short email and PDF with leads by source for the week and the last 90 days, how much is still unknown, and a note if capture ever stops working. Numbers and charts only.
Where Attribution Usually Breaks
Why This Pays for Itself
Google's documentation notes a median 10% conversion increase for advertisers who combine first-party data with click IDs, and tracking you can trust is the only way to move budget toward what actually produces leads. We looked for an independent rate of tracking errors on small-business sites and did not find a reliable one, so we do not quote one. The honest way to know is to audit yours.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is attribution, in plain English?
Knowing which ad, listing, or page produced each lead. When it works, you move budget toward what produces leads. When it does not, you are guessing.
What does the free audit include?
A read-only count of 90 days of leads from every place one can land, a live test of your tags and forms, and a plain-English findings report. We change nothing until you approve it.
What access do you need?
Read access to Tag Manager, GA4, Google Ads, Meta, and your CRM is enough for the audit. We ask for edit access only for fixes you approve.
Why do Google Ads and GA4 show different numbers?
They use different definitions, date assignment, and lookback windows, and Google Ads now defaults to data-driven attribution. Our job is to reconcile them into one definition of a lead and explain the remaining gap.
Can you track phone calls?
Yes. Google's forwarding numbers are free and report the ad and keyword, and third-party tools add more detail. Calls over a set length can count as conversions.
Does tracking break when the site is rebuilt?
It can. We retest tags, forms, and call numbers after every site change.
Is tracking a privacy risk?
It can be, especially for healthcare. HHS OCR's tracking bulletin was partly vacated in June 2024, but tracking on authenticated pages and patient portals remains high risk, and the FTC has acted against companies that shared health data with ad platforms. We design around it and recommend legal review where it applies.
Do you work on sites you did not build?
Yes. The audit works on any site, including ones built by another developer or agency.
What do I get every week?
A short email and PDF of leads by source for the week and the last 90 days, how much is still unknown, and a note if capture stops working.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
The audit takes about a week. Fixes are scoped to what is broken, so there is no one-size price. Book the free audit for real numbers.
